Tahoe Climate Changing

This winter we are seeing more and more mixing of rain and snow. Winds today over Alpine and Squaw ridgelines hit 175 mph. Another avalanche today in Alpine, covering a cabin. More avalanches and road closures should be expected as we trend to expanding swings in temperature and snow-moisture conditions. Is Squaw Valley’s pursuit to be “world-class” really restricted by hotel space and retail shops, or is it as basic as deteriorating snow conditions coupled with deteriorating traffic?  And let’s see how the gondola developers tell us how they know how to manage the wind and snow conditions of the future. Our only certainty at this point is that the future will never again be like the past.
