Five Lakes Trail Is Open, It Can Not Be Closed!!!

This is an illegal attempt to exclude the public from our (the public’s) trail. The property owner has no right to close the Five Lakes Trail. The county permit he cites has no such authorization (its a federally protected trail, fortunately for us). This trail has been in place for many decades and it needs to be protected for everyone. Ask the Tahoe National Forest (Truckee Office 530-587-3558) to keep this important public asset open.

  1. It’s always closed for the Winter Season when the trail becomes covered with snow. Once the snow has mostly melted then it will open. Currently there is avalanche risk and the trail is covered with snow. Nothing has changed in my opinion from previous years.
