The Granite Chief Wilderness Area was created by Congress in 1984, to protect Five Lakes and surrounding natural resources of national interest. A gondola and related development is being proposed that would cut into the designated Wilderness Area and along the Five Lakes Boundary. The proposal would substantively degrade the Granite Chief Wilderness Area, harming and diminishing this national Public Trust resource for current and future generations.
The building of the gondola does not follow the Wilderness Act of 1964
Here’s a little more information about the Wilderness Act.
